Southlake Girls Lacrosse Association (SGLA) is a community-based association formed to exclusively serve and develop female lacrosse players of all ages and skill levels in Southlake.
SGLA is the City of Southlake’s only approved partner for girls’ lacrosse.
SGLA is the only association in the community dedicated strictly to girls’ lacrosse.
SGLA’s independence and autonomy follow an established trend for girls’ lacrosse in Texas. Nearly 70% of Texas teams with public school affiliations are independent programs exclusively operated for girls – as is SGLA.
SGLA proudly wears the Dragon logo as members of the Southlake Carroll athletic community. During the 2017/2018 and 2018/2019 school years, we participated in the homecoming parade and were acknowledged in the year book. We participated in Carroll’s 2018 National Signing Day Event.
We are a non-profit organization and fall under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
We are a member of US Lacrosse, the sport’s national governing body.
We have the right to use the name Southlake Girls Lacrosse Association as granted by the state of Texas in our formation. This right required us to obtain a waiver from the Southlake Girls Softball Association in order to use the name. The SGSA graciously consented, but the requirement highlights the state’s sensitivity to confusion caused by similar names, even if the sports are completely different. (SGSA Waiver)
